How CyberKnife Therapy Works

During CyberKnife treatment, you lie down on a table while a robotic arm moves above you to deliver beams of radiation to accurate locations. The robotic arm can track tumors that move using X-ray imaging. CyberKnife technology can deliver targeted, high doses of radiation to tumors anywhere in the body. It has accuracy within a millimeter.

Radiation experts use advanced imaging throughout the treatment to get real-time pictures of your tumor. It tracks the tumor’s location as you breathe or make small movements. By tracking the tumor and using precise beams of radiation, we can better protect your healthy tissue.

CyberKnife therapy can treat many treatment sites, including:

CyberKnife therapy can treat cancer in fewer appointments, usually from one to five sessions. As a noninvasive, painless procedure, it doesn’t require surgery or a hospital stay. You can return to your normal activities as soon as the treatment is over. You do not emit radiation to others, and therefore don’t need to be in isolation.

Do you want to find out if CyberKnife therapy may be the right option for you? Your team of experts at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute will discuss treatment options that are best suited for your needs.

When you come to receive CyberKnife therapy, you’ll be in the state-of-the-art Nurture Treatment Room. It is designed to provide inspiration and hope to all patients.
